Welcome to First Friends!
Registration for the 2013 Summer Session and the 2013-2014 School Year begins Monday, 3/18. Stop by the schoool to pick up your packet!

First Friends Day School's purpose is to provide a secure and nurturing environment that fosters independence, curiosity and the development of age appropriate skills in a Christian atmosphere. We promote a positive self-image, a sense of identity and encourage cooperative play in a positive atmosphere to stimulate the development of the whole child.

Curriculum - Our curriculum is accomplished through play-based activities in various learning centers (reading, art, dramatic play, games, math, blocks, manipulatives, etc.). Each class has a daily routine which includes a balance of large and small group activities, learning centers, music, outdoor play, and snack and lunch time. Our goal is to let each child achieve his/her potential at his/her own pace.

Enrollment - Each spring enrollment is held for the upcoming summer and school year. Enrollment is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis each day of registration.

Religion - First Friends is a weekday ministry of First United Methodist Church Pasadena. The children will say prayers before snack and lunch. Chapel time is scheduled once a week.

Lunches and Snacks - Each child must bring lunch and snacks daily. Lunch Out is available on Thursdays and Fridays for $4.00.

Age and Class Size - Children are enrolled in classes by age. We follow the P.I.S.D. guideline of a child’s age as of September 1st of the school year for which the child is being registered. Age groups range from infants through Kindergarten. Preschool classes are offered for children who are 2, 3, or 4 by September 1st. Five- year -olds may enroll in the Kindergarten Skills program. This class is also available for those children who will turn 5 years old between September 1st and December 1st of the same year.

Our low Staff-Child Ratios provide a high degree of
individual attention.

3 – 11 months - 1:4 and 2:6
12 – 17 months - 1:5 and 2:9
18 – 23 months - 1:5 and 2:10
2 years - 1:6/8 and 2:12/14
3 years - 1:10 and 2:16/20
4 years - 1:10 and 2:18/20
Kindergarten - 1:12 and 2 up to 25
School Agers - 1:17 and 2 up to 25

Fees - Children are registered on a yearly basis. Enrollment fees are assessed on 12-month, 9-month and summer programs. The tuition amount stays the same each month regardless of the amount of days attended and is due on the 1st of each month.

Extended Care - We do offer extended care outside of preschool hours (9am to 1pm). You can drop off at 7am or 8am and pick up at 3:30pm, 4:30pm or 6pm. Fees are based on the number of days enrolled. Drop-ins are $5.00/hour and requests should be made in advance to insure availability.
